Jason: Episode 002
Who| Jason!
What| Training!
Where| The training gym and the shooting range!
When| Post-Ring Pop Power Hour!
Warnings/Notes| None!
Jason's got a routine. Back home, he'd spend about three hours a day doing exercise and practicing his martial arts, not counting the time he spent on his classes. The rest of the day was either dedicated to school or his friends. Or to actually saving the world.
On Legion World, his schedule ended up changing slightly. While he was sixteen and technically a legal adult, he kept up some education. Not much, only a few classes a day, but he couldn't just give up on school to be a superhero back home and he didn't see why that should change here.
The majority of his day, when he wasn't on monitor duty, was taken up by training. His schedule was fairly regular. Wake up at around six o'clock, make sure that the universe wasn't ending. Shower, brush teeth, eat a huge breakfast, and start working out at seven. Two hours of exercise, including jogging and weightlifting, then an hour of practicing his martial arts, usually alone. Then, a break at ten for another shower, lunch, and three forty-five minute classes. And, of course, the regular Legion training. Then, in the afternoon, another two hours of martial arts practice, followed by an hour of whatever hellish new exercise that Aizawa had put out for him. Then an hour of cooling down, followed by half an hour of Science Police-level training with the blaster pistol he'd gotten from Engineering. After that, dinner followed by whatever struck his fancy. Usually more martial arts, running, or swimming.
Honestly, watching the Earth from space had grown a little boring after the first month or so. And, while the Legion people were friendly enough, he, well. He missed his friends. He didn't know whether time was passing at home or not, or how much trouble they were in without him. It wasn't like Zordon and Alpha could just whip up a new Ranger out of nothing, after all. So, rather than focus on that or, you know, do the healthy thing and discuss it with the therapist, he buried himself in practice. It was fun, mostly, and it kept his mind off of things.
((So. Grab bag! If anyone wants to run into Jason, or have him run into them, in either working out in the gym, running, swimming, shooting at the range, practicing martial arts, or chowing down, feel free.))

Most likely playing the drums, or just seeing what else needed doing around Legion World.
Exercise was good, too. Though she didn't really... have much in the way of a routine. Weightlifting always caught her attention, though. Just because of the way it looked. And hey, there was Jason at it!
"So uh, how many of those have you done so far today?"

He wasn't exactly expecting company, or at least talkative company, during today's workout, but Jason's not gonna complain. Especially not with Gwen. She was cool. He blinked and looked up at her with a lopsided grin. "Oh! Hey. Uh." He'd wave, but. Well. Hands a little full. "For the whole day? Uh. Honestly, I'm not real sure. Probably sixty-something? I've cycled around a few times." Nowhere near his record, but if he had to do that again... Well. That wasn't going to be something he did casually.

"And you don't even look like you're done yet."

He slowly lowered, then raised the bar again. There. One.
"I've got about two more hours of exercise before I usually quit." It's practically an off-hand mention. Not a hint for her to push off at all. "My power's not really good in a fight and I work out a lot at home, so I figured that I should just focus on this while I was here. You know?" He does another rep, just as slowly. He's been sweating buckets, but Jason's not straining with the weight at all. "The thing you do is just, y'know. Lots of reps at a low weight. Unless you're looking to bulk up." Which, well. He's done plenty of that, too. "But being big isn't any good if you don't have any power behind it."
no subject
"Yeah, I... Don't really know too much about that stuff, you know?" Before signing up with the Legion, Gwen was pretty much self-taught.
"I kind of just showed myself everything I know with movies. Lots and lots of martial arts movies."
And she wasn't ashamed to admit it.

An involved conversation and working out wasn't really in his repertoire.
"Like, super strength and all that? It fits the whole Spider-theme, I guess." He shrugged. "Kinda makes sense that you wouldn't need to work out a lot if you already had powers."
And, really, who hadn't picked up at least one cool-looking move from a martial arts flick? "I taught a martial arts class back home. I thought about doing it here, but with Val around it seems kind of unnecessary."
no subject
It sounded a lot cooler than she was explaining it to be.
"God, I miss that."
no subject
He chuckled to himself and sideyed Gwen. "So, 'we' huh? Is there a group of Spider People out there singing off-brand Village People tunes or something?" On the web line, you can help your fellow bug!
no subject
"But yeah, there's... a lot of us. I'm definitely not the only Spider-Woman out in the multiverse. But I'll let you know right now that out of all of us? My costume is definitely the coolest and most amazing."
no subject
"You definitely beat Spidertron." Not that any of Rita's monsters were 'cool' or 'amazing'. Except the Dragonzord. He's still shaky on that whole thing. "...Not that Spidertron was a person."
no subject
Was it a robot? It definitely sounded like a robot.
no subject
"Uh. Well, my friends and I were doing a petition to save a statue that was supposed to magically repel insects." He shrugged. It was Trini's thing. You didn't question Trini's things sometimes. "I don't know how effective it was, put it caught Rita's interest," had he even told her about that before? He couldn't remember, but it wasn't that important right now. "...So she sent an evil spider monster down to destroy the Power Rangers and take over the world."
Funny how often she made a monster to fit their current lives.
"It was just this big, eight foot tall spider that walked on two legs. Not really cool at all." Unless you had a thing for spiders. Maybe Gwen did, he didn't know. "The Rangers killed it, though."
no subject
Why?!
Why did this Rita person think that sending down an evil spider monster would let her take over the world?
"So all it did was... be big? Was that it?" Really trying to see the threat, here.
no subject
He paused, then coughed a bit, regaining his normal footing. "Yeah, uh. Forgot to mention. Rita's got this thing where she can make her monsters, like. A hundred and fifty feet tall when she wants." It kinda sucked sometimes. But hopefully that made Spidertron seem a bit more threatening, because all he's getting from Gwen right now is an overwhelming sense that she thinks the whole thing is lame.

Like any other kind of robot, really
no subject
Yeah. It's one of those worlds.

As they were expected to defeat their enemies without killing them--noble, but not something the general had ever particularly tried to do--he took up quite a bit of time training in hand-to-hand combat, refining techniques he almost never got the opportunity to use. It had been decades since one of his enemies had managed to disarm him, after all.
Unwittingly, he was also following Jason's routine for avoiding his emotions--or, really, continuing down the same path he'd put his feet to well before he found himself here, keeping his mind busy and body tired so that when he slept at night, he didn't dream.
The pool was one place he hadn't investigated yet, because for all his many and varied skills learned over a long lifetime, Kozmotis couldn't swim. But the chlorinated smell of the pool water was something new, and after a few weeks of excruciatingly exact routine, he deviates to investigate it.
He only hears the soft splashing of someone actually using the pool once he's already in the room.

For all the advances in technology the future made, swimming pools seemed to stay the same. There were probably some wild and crazy ones out there, but the default configuration in the Legion's training areas was an Olympic-sized pool. One that Jason had all to himself, until just now.
As it was, Jason was slowing down. He'd done ten laps and was slowly moving from exercise to simply fooling about in the pool, paddling and splashing about more than actually working. It took him a moment to realize that he had an audience of one now, even if he didn't recognize the guy. Then again, he'd been on Legion World for months and still hadn't met all the staff. Oh, well. He raised a hand in greeting, stopping to tread water. "Hey. How's it going?"
Friendly enough, at least."
