Action
Who| Fareeha Amari (~12 years)
What| Friendship!
Where| Training room, Observation Deck, Mess Hall
When| Throughout her time effected by the Time Ripples
Warnings/Notes| n/a
This is the longest Fareeha has been on her own. No parent chaperoning her, no guarded escorts, no visits with her extended Overwatch family like Reinhardt or Jack. Gabriel was at least here, so that was good, and she has made friends with some of the other Legionnaires, but without guidance and a set routine she's gotten restless.
So, she's made her own routine.
It includes mature things that she thinks would make her mother happy; healthy foods, time spent training, reading through the news or any books she could find. At the end of the day, though, she's still a kid, so there are times you can find her on the observation deck with a piece of cake and a litany of colorful threads spread out as she spends her time deftly making friendship bracelets. It's a fun hobby, and leaves her with something to gift the people who have been nice and helpful to her, but it's also a distraction so she's not constantly thinking about how much she misses home.
If you've spoken to her once or twice (and weren't mean) there's probably a bracelet in there for you.

Observation Deck
So there she was, in full gear including her rifle on her back, leaning against the rail while her omincomm rest haphazardly in her hand. There was a dot blipping on the screen, but the sniper wasn't paying attention to it. Nor did she pay attention when Fareeha arrived with cake and colorful accoutrements in hand. Oh, her presence was noted, but Widowmaker was lost in thought, weight shifted to the left as she was favoring her right leg a little.
Re: Observation Deck
She chooses a little swatch of ground by the windows where she can look out while she works and settles down - perhaps angled just slightly so she could keep the blue woman in her peripheral vision - and sits crosslegged on the ground. She cuts a few lengths of string and ties it to a safety pin, pins it to her pantleg, and then starts weaving the strands over, under, and around each other.
Eventually, she gets so involved in her current task that her little glances towards the strange woman cease altogether.

Putting the device away, Widowmaker finally turned her eyes to the girl sitting not too far away. She blinked slowly, making a slight sound in the back of her throat. Even at this age, Fareeha Amari was recognizable. At least she was young enough that Fareeha wouldn't know who she was. But the girl...
"What are you up to down there?" Asked as Widowmaker moved over to look down at Fareeha.

She looks up, holding tightly on the end of the current bracelet so it doesn't unravel. She leans back slightly, trying to be polite but visibly slightly unsettled.
"Making bracelets."
Not going to give her any more information than she has to.

Widowmaker is still making her nervous, otherwise she might have offered to teach her, but she doesn't stop or attempt to leave. She works at finishing this current bracelet and already starts planning out the next.
"What hobbies do you do?"
Except shoot people, obviously.
no subject
"I dance," she replied. It was true, even if she didn't dance like she once did. Such a passion never truly left her, and it was a nice way to keep fit and limber. She just did it in the privacy of her quarters.
Still, Fareeha's demeanor wasn't lose on Widowmaker. "Do I frighten you, child?"

Training Room
What he doesn't expect when he gets to the training room is to find a little girl already there - and apparently hard at work, at that. It's hard not to stare for a moment, backpack still slung over his shoulder, wondering if there's some sort of kids' training area he wandered into by mistake.
Re: Training Room
She hasn't ventured into her powers yet, and she's not hitting up the firing range unless she's with a responsible adult.
For now she's working on her martial arts forms. Lots of adjusting as she tries to think about where her feet need to be and how her arms are placed, a lot of repetition to try and continue to cement the forms.
Training Room
He waits until it seems like there's a break in the flow to stroll up, lifting a hand in greeting. "Hey, that looks pretty cool. What are you practicing?"
no subject
She tells him specifically what school she's practicing, which canon isn't very specific about.
"Do you do any martial arts?"
no subject

She sets her water down and thinks for a moment, "I could teach you some basic forms, if you want." It's not much, but it's one way she can help others.

Observation Deck
Kind of shocking they didn't make this thing bigger on a ship so large.
He waits until he's settled down indian style to give a little wave, not wanting to loom over her. He'd passed the six foot mark months ago. Working on seven, now.
"Won't bother you if I sit here, will it?"
He'd feel kinda bad if she felt like she had to leave. She looked busy.
no subject
"I don't mind!" Part of the reason for her coming out here to do it instead of just working in her barracks was the chance to meet other people. She goes back to her bracelet for a bit in order to finish it, then sets it aside and looks back at the newcomer.
"Did you just arrive?"
no subject
"Kind of."
Making himself comfortable, Mako draws his Omnicom out of his pocket and sets it in his lap without turning it on quite yet. He was just going to play candy crush or something, but he won't blow a kid off if she wanted to chat.
"Time stuff," he clarifies. "Who're the bracelets for?"
no subject
She waits a beat and then holds out her hand. "I'm Fareeha. I think I'm part of the time stuff, too."
no subject
"Lotta' people could use one right now, probably."
Waking up impossibly far from home, getting told they were a part of a problem that would with any luck iron itself out soon; there were some implications there that weren't comfortable to think about.
He's sure he doesn't have it the worst, at any rate. His town wasn't exactly a riot.
"Mako," he offers his name in turn, her confidence easily convincing him to go ahead and reach out to give her hand a gentle shake between two of his comparatively enormous fingers. "Any idea who you're supposed to be yet?"
no subject
She picks out a few more strings to start a new bracelet, and goes about getting it started. If Mako's paying attention, it's reminiscent of his current color scheme.
"Do you know your future, Mako?"

Mess Hall
But that changed fairly quickly as he was just teasing and he broke out in laughter with his mouth full of food.
"What can I do you for, kiddo?"
no subject
"Mind if I join you?"
no subject
He pulls out a clump of noodles with his chopsticks and holds it out.
"Wanna try some? Good ramen is hard to find."
She probably would want to get her own bowl. Eating after Genji probably wasn't the smartest of ideas, even if he was doing it on good faith.
no subject
"Uh, yeah, here --" She grabs a plate off of her tray and offers it up for him to deposit the oodles onto.
no subject
"Trying something you haven't had before is pretty brave. Not afraid of new things, are you?"
no subject
But she's still playful and can be a little bit brash in her own way.
She shakes her head as she sporks up the noodles and takes a bite. They're good and tasty, and she smiles as she finishes chewing before answering. "I love trying new things!"
