Movie Night VII: The Spinoff
Who| Wash and anyone who cares to join
What| Movie Night!
Where| The usual lounge
When| After Resistance Is Futile/An Eye For an Eye and the subsequent food fight
Warnings/Notes| None?
There's something to be said for a return to normality, though they're not really there yet. The food fight was a good way to decompress; now it's time to trot out the usual tradition of snacks and old cinema.
Chairs are arranged, blankets laid out, and the usual line of tables is piled high with standard movie snacks and drinks, though they're far less carefully arranged than usual. There are blank tables next to the spread, for those who wish to bring snacks to share. The usual poster is outside the door, with a summary of the movie, its MPAA rating, and the customary Movie night is neutral territory note. New this time is a handwritten note next to the summary that reads It's parody. It's supposed to be weird.
The movie tonight is Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

He leans up, kisses Locus' cheek, and settles in. After a moment or two of this he'll slide down to snug up against his side instead of, well, on him but right now? He wants his boyfriend couch, please and thank you.
no subject
He's happy. That's important, right?
He still gets a look at the 'babe' comment before shaking his head, easing back slightly into the couch to give him a more comfortable perch.

"Have you seen this film before?"

The idea of Locus taking the time to sit down and watch any kind of film (considering his initial discomfit the first time one of these happened) is difficult to hold onto. But now? It's kidna date night and he's cool with that.
no subject
He's adjusted his expectations accordingly. Another bite of apple is taken.

One eyebrow raises slightly. Obviously he wouldn't be here for a movie he hated, but he's curious. Their tastes do tend to differ, in certain regards.
Himself? He'll stay for the movie regardless of the quality. It's time spent together, and among their friends. A bad movie would be worth that regardless.
no subject
Something he shared with his family, with his friends-
And now with Locus. "I think you'll like some of it."
no subject
A moment, and then...
"Are you planning to sit there for the entire film?"
Not a complaint, per se. Curiosity more than anything.
no subject
Another, longer beat.
"Unless you want space." Cuz he can do that, give Locus space.
no subject
They've spent movie nights leaning together before. This wouldn't be so different from that. Except the obvious part where York had kissed him. But that had happened before as well.
Nothing to grasp onto there, really. Just this mild discomfort every time he feels a set of eyes on them.
no subject
Huh.
Looks like he and Chief weren't the only ones who'd worked things out.
"Took you long enough," he says, before returning to his place on the couch.
no subject
Okay maybe he's poking a little here because of Wash but he does wanna find some kind of endearment that Locus accepts.
no subject
"'Mocha-Bear'?"
His lips twist in displeasure. That one better not stick.

The need to give things nicknames is not an unfamiliar impulse in his companions, but this is quickly turning absurd.
no subject
In reaching for normalcy he does get a little ridiculous. Names work, don't they? They do.
no subject
Well. If York says that it's 'couple shit', then maybe it's just one of those things he has to learn to accept. All things uncomfortable are not necessarily bad.
There's still a considerable pause. "Does it have to be embarrassing?"
no subject
Not quite like Locus did but they're gonna glance right over that in favor of him snagging a bite of popcorn. "You don't have to come up with something for me. It's cool."
no subject
Something only York could call him.
...nope. Coming up blank.

He's never been that crass, for one thing. Never that sentimental, for another. Some variety of the two seems to be the common theme in most he's heard, or else something diminutive in some way. None seem to suit, as he thinks of them.
"I suppose if that is the worst we have to worry about..."
no subject
The details of their evolving relationship; the shit they figure out together to get comfortable. "Novio? Amoro."
no subject
Less to worry about than shooting at their friends or zombie hordes, or nightmares of dead partners, or any number of things they'd already encountered. A struggle without being any real hardship.
"Hn. Better, perhaps."
