There's something to be said for a return to normality, though they're not really there yet. The food fight was a good way to decompress; now it's time to trot out the usual tradition of snacks and old cinema.

Chairs are arranged, blankets laid out, and the usual line of tables is piled high with standard movie snacks and drinks, though they're far less carefully arranged than usual. There are blank tables next to the spread, for those who wish to bring snacks to share. The usual poster is outside the door, with a summary of the movie, its MPAA rating, and the customary Movie night is neutral territory note. New this time is a handwritten note next to the summary that reads It's parody. It's supposed to be weird.

The movie tonight is Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Oh, Wash, you crazy fool.

He's going to need serious backup.

Pidge was looking forward to movie night this week. There'd been too much...too much everything really. Pain, fear, turmoil...emotions. Even if some of them had turned out for the better, she seriously needed some downtime.

And then she saw the notice, what movie it was he'd picked, and froze on the spot, before turning and bolting down the hall determination gleaming in her eyes. When she returns, it's with a large empty jar sporting a massive label in large block capitals that says QUOTE JAR.

"OK, here are the rules: If you've already seen this movie and you say a line before the character on screen does, you have to put some credits in the jar."

She is very serious about this.

"Ni."

She taps the side of the jar.

"No thank you, I've already got one."

...He sighs and just drops his wallet into the jar.

"How many is 'some' because-" Well. He's memorized the damn thing for the most part. Side effect of hipster nerd parents with an odd appreciation for old earth humor. He rifles in his pockets for a moment before Emu hops down and snags them from his hoodie pouch, climbs back up to his shoulder and glides down on little wings and sugar-glider skin flaps between her limbs to perch and deposit a reasonable amount of credits. "Yeah that- yeah. Might as well prepay."

"I guess five credits per infraction is fair? It wasn't supposed to be about buying permission," she grumbles.

"I'm covering my bases because as much as I'm going to try and not? I know I'll slip up once or twice." Or five or six times, either way. "Old habits are hard to break and all that."

She keeps her eye contact with York, but she gives in to her not-so-secret-desire and holds her hand out to see if Emu will let her give her a scratch.

"So...I guess you're a cautionary tale for the people who haven't seen this movie?"

Her smile should give away that she's teasing.

"Learn from my mistakes, kiddo. Even if they're self induced. Especially if they're self induced." As are most of his mistakes- still he huffs a quiet laugh and pats her shoulder, holding still long enough for Emu to really lean into Pidge's hand for more scratches.

"That's one way to prevent people from talking during the movie. Or putting it to good use."

Locus tips his head from where he's sitting on the couch, one eyebrow lifting.

"Is it being put to good use?"

"Trust me, you'll thank me later. I've seen this movie before."

She shrugs. "I guess I was just going to donate it, but I'm open to suggestions."

"Donate it to who?"

Don't get him wrong, he understands that the primary focus here is an incentive not to talk over the movie and ruin it for everyone else. And the tone isn't an accusatory one.

He's tempered himself quite a bit since the first time Pidge spoke to him after their run-in all those months ago.

"Uh...I hadn't really thought that far ahead."

He really has tempered himself, so much so that Pidge...doesn't actually recognize him as the same guy.

"We could take a vote?"

To be fair? He'd been in the armor, then. Pidge could easily be forgiven.

"Isn't that likely to prove a further distraction?" His lips twisted faintly as he leaned back, arms folding loosely over his chest. Come on, give him a better answer than that. He's honestly curious, now.

Pidge sets up not far from where Wash is sitting, so he gets a good look at the jar and...well, laughs. It's quiet and tired and doesn't last long, but it does happen.

"What do you plan on doing with that?"

He's laughing! Not a lot, but he's still laughing! Pidge breaks out into a lopsided grin.

"I don't know. Donate it, I guess, until someone has a better idea."

Take your victories where you can get them, Pidge.

"Donation's a good idea - there's probably a lot of charities for Colu that could use the help. You could also use it to get something nice for Dr. Ry'kerr - she's probably going to need it."

"That's probably true, but I'm not really a natural gift giver. Flowers? Flowers are a pretty safe gift, right?"
