Who| Claire and Kid Q
What| Claire is making a formal complaint
Where| Kid's office
When| After this!
Warnings/Notes| Claire is in her element

Claire Dearing knew how to navigate these waters; this was her kind of mission, conflict she could face with a toothy grin. Today, she is lodging a complaint with HR. Or, in this world, the closest applicable office she could find. Here, that would be Kid Quantum's office. She's done her research, made an appointment, and is showing up exactly on time with a data pad.

Yes, she's brought notes from one single encounter.

She does have her concerns, though; Kid Quantum wasn't exactly a name that inspired confidence in her as far as business practices go. No better way to find out then to just ask, and besides she needed to notify someone that this Rico character might not have been the best investment.

She knocks sharply on the door frame and leans in with a smile.

"Hello, I'm Claire Dearing, I'm here for my appointment."

Kid Quantum looks up from the omnicom in her hand and smiles, shifting in her chair so that she can pull her booted feet off of her desk.

"Right on time," she says, setting her omnicom aside and gesturing. "Close the door behind you and pull up a chair, I'm eager to hear what you've got to say."

Reasons not to pick your moniker as a teenager: they don't always age well. For every 'Live Wire', 'Apparition', and 'Brainiac 5', there's a 'Saturn Girl', 'Ultra Boy' or 'Invisible Kid' who's eventually going to need to figure out a less childish alternative.

But that's a problem for future Kid Quantum; current Kid Quantum sighs heavily.

"And I'd just approved a new monitor duty schedule, too," she says, mostly to herself. Then she straightens her shoulders and looks Claire in the eye.

"All right, tell me what happened."

As Claire reports, Kid Quantum's face transforms from that of a resigned young woman...well, an expression that makes it very easy to remember that she once lead a double-handful of teenagers in open combat against an army and won. Handily.

"Thank you for informing me," she says evenly. "I've been hearing all sorts of things about Judge Dredd today, and none of them good. Let me reassure you that I will make it clear to him that he will not be permitted to continue casually assaulting sentients, especially not his teammates." She takes a deep breath and lets it out. "I'll have him issue you an apology. Do you want it in writing or would you prefer it in person?"

"Just because our role frequently involves violence doesn't mean that it's an appropriate response to every interaction," Kid Quantum says. "And I take people assaulting my team very seriously. I'll be pulling up security footage of the mess hall to verify your report, but I'm sure you wouldn't have brought it to me without reason."

She sits back in her chair and pinches the bridge of her nose.

"While I'm aware that everyone who's been kidnapped here by Time Trapper comes from a wide variety of realities and time periods, with a wide variety of social mores, some behaviors are simply unacceptable."

Kid Quantum snorts.

"Yeah, the Time Trapper isn't so much an organized vetting process as a squaj who needs to quit sprocking around in the time stream and causing us problems," she says. The Legion is well-known for being foul-mouthed and not one of their leaders has been an exception, Kid Quantum included. "Also, not always a 'guy'. It's weird and complicated, time travel nass usually is."

She shakes her head. "No thanks are necessary. Ensuring everyone's safety, at least as much as possible in an organization like the Legion, is vital to our ability to function."
