Who| South Dakota and You!
What| South making bad-life decisions (aka brother avoidance)
Where| Around the Ship and Legion World
When| First half of March
Warnings/Notes| Language, will add as necessary

South Dakota has never been accused of being a wholly mature person who makes informed decisions after careful consideration. Case in point, when her twin brother arrives on Legion she does her best to avoid him; she's not ready to give up her new-found Independence. On the same hand, though, he's always been an intergral part of her life and the moments she'd spent here without him always felt weird on some level.

So, with these two warring sides, she's been attempting to avoid him in general, and using her power to assume other people's personas when she couldn't sneak past him. So sometimes you might run into someone you swore you just left somewhere else, or - as the case is as the month wears on - you might see someone transforming into someone else as she comes or goes from where ever North is currently.

Feel free to run into any of the following that are actually South Dakota in disguise; South Dakota, America, Dave Strider, Texas, Robbie, or perhaps even random animals.

North wouldn't say that he's looking for South, exactly. But he has made it his business to know where her habitat is. And to heavily favor the routes that pass it and its access points as he moves about his day. Once or twice he thinks he's sure he sees her, darting out of sight just as he comes into view. And he takes a deep breath, and tells himself that she's not hurting herself or anyone else, and that she's bound to get tired of doing this eventually. He tells himself that he's absolutely fine with waiting, and that this isn't bothering him even a little bit, at all.

It's not always convincing, but it's a mantra he's become very good at reciting, all the same.

He stays friendly - that, at least, is second nature. So when he spots America, he lifts his hand in genuinely pleased greeting. "Beeny, hey, where're you going?" He quirks a grin, obviously teasing. "Sim rooms are the other way."

"Hah. I guess they won't deliver there from the mess, huh."

Purely a hypothetical - he's just ribbing her, and he lets it go without waiting for a response, more important things on his mind than teasing her about her sim room use that's swiftly becoming infamous. "Thanks again for that hand on the mission. I owe you one."

An expert on the woman, North most definitely is not. But the wave off and vaguely disparaging quip don't square at all with the reasonably relaxed, businesslike way she'd handled the crisis when they were smack dab in the middle of it.

"To be fair, the big guy was a teammate of mine before I landed here," he counters, still with a shade of that disarming friendliness. "There weren't exactly a lot of warning signs he was going to wind up on the other side of the fight."

. . . okay then.

North manages not to grin. It's not sportsmanlike to grin, and he's probably getting punched anyway, and besides. Now that all of their cards are on the table? It's funny to just milk this along a little longer.

"Aw. It's almost too bad you weren't there to see it," he counters mildly. America was there to see it, of course. But they both know he's not talking to America right now. "Of all the ways I would've thought stolen super-powers could backfire, 'not knowing how to turn off energy shield you put around yourself, then filling it with magically-generated grill meats' has got to be my new favorite."

If anyone could appreciate sheer cruel absurdity of that, the monster in Maine's armor drowning himself in a fishbowl of barbecue, North knows it would be South.

And there they are. He'd known, at some level or another, that this was never going to end until South wanted it to. But knowing that it's over brings a wash of relief, enough that even his trustworthy poker face starts to fail him as he nods. Grins. Almost speaks, catches himself biting back laughter instead.

"Off somewhere being cool?" He snerks, pressing his hand to his mouth briefly and nodding in a failed attempt to salvage his composure and pretend he is not wearing the world's biggest shit-eating grin. "That's what you think Carolina sounds like?"

"At this rate it looks like they're going to get the whole team eventually." Not that he's married to that idea himself - it seems like the Legion handles itself well enough without being swarmed by the hypercompetitive power armor squad. "How are you liking it?"

"I'm afraid to ask what it'll cost me." There's a touch of appreciation in the jibe - South taking an advantage and abusing the hell out of it is one of those things that's knit into his bones by now, sure as his sense of gravity. It why he hasn't even had it in himself to be upset, up until now. Restless, sure, cagey as anything. But it wouldn't be his sister if she didn't wring that upper hand dry before finally dropping back down to his level.
