Does this make my butt look big? [MINGLE POST]
Who| EVERYONE who wants in
What| Costume mingle post! Characters can try on their costumes for the first time and react to them with each other.
Where| The Anthramite Clothers' Workshop
When| A few days after everyone gets to adjust
Warnings/Notes| None!
"This is going to be great!" Ferro enthused. He got so excited he clapped his hands together a little bit, which made a dull, metallic ringing sound.
There were quite a few dressing rooms in the large workshop where the Anthramite clothiers worked and Ferro was waiting in the large area outside them all, eagerly waiting to see how everyone reacted to their new costumes. The Anthramites had done most of the designs, with input from their respective Legionnaires, but they'd started to let him help sometimes after he'd shown them some samples of his sewing, so he'd gotten to suggest some alterations this time, too.
He sat on a stool and kicked his legs slightly, idly looking over at one of the many mirrors around the workshop, but then he quickly looked away.
It wasn't that he disliked his reflection the way he used to. Back then, whenever he did, all he could think about was the ugliness that his mask was covering, but he'd finally made peace with that. No, he hated looking in mirrors because in their shining surfaces he saw his body shining back and it just made him think about how he might be stuck as living metal forever, never able to turn human again. He might never be able to taste food or feel people's hugs or --
Ferro decided to stop thinking about it and instead looked at some of the sewing patterns the Anthramites left out. They'd left the room for now, mostly because some of them was getting cranky at them trying to re-measure their inseams fifty times, so now he was getting to poke around in their stuff in a way he usually didn't.
"You don't really feel like a superhero until you put your costume on for the first time." He paused. "Well, actually, that's not true, you don't really feel like a superhero until you put your costume on for the first time and save somebody, but the costume part makes it feel more like you're a superhero than just the saving someone, because if you save someone in normal clothes you're kind of just a hero, so you need the costume for the super part."
[ooc: If you guys would like to make some visuals, there are a few superhero generators you can check out. 1 (f only), 2 (m/f, somewhat complicated to use but the 2.5 version is simpler so you can also try that), 3 (m/f, somewhat limited), 4 (m/f, not in English but easy to figure out, good options), and 5 (m/f, limited options, but simple to use).]

...Though a part of him really missed having a helmet.
He grinned over to the scarred guy, though he probably lingered on the old burns more than was polite, and shrugged, slipping his hands into his jacket's pockets. "Hey, at least you don't need padded muscles. Those always look so corny on actors." You'd probably sweat up a storm wearing them, too. Foam didn't seem like it'd breathe well.

He shifted again in his clothes and tugged on parts of the suit.
"They shouldn't feel like they're going to shift...places."
He looked faintly embarrassed at implying he had concerns the suit would give him a royal wedgie, but it really was a major concern.

...Still. He knew exactly what Zuko meant. Wasn't hard, to be honest. He glanced around and cleared his throat, leaning in a little and speaking in a hushed voice. "Get yourself some compression shorts. Won't be a problem."

Ugh, he hated this.
"I shouldn't have to wear clothes that need special shorts!"
This whole thing was wrong and everything was horrible.

Jason shrugged. He wasn't quite sure what to say. Yeah, the clothes were a bit ridiculous, he kinda preferred his old outfit, but dressing up like that here seemed like a bad idea. Too much of a hint to his identity. "Maybe you should look into a mask or a helmet until you're comfortable wearing these things? Or invest in a cape or something." Capes were cool. It might get in the way of the sword, though.
...Or maybe catch fire.

There was a reason that most Firebenders threw off all their clothes and stripped down to the waist for an Agni Kai. Anything that dangled had the potential to burn. And yes, he did have to wear the sheathes to his dao and that would look stupid over a cape and be impossible to get to under one.
"Is this really normal for other people?" He wasn't sure that he was just talking about the clothes. "Not just the clothes. Just...all of this."
He gestured to the rest of the room.
"This 'superhero' thing."
The concept was a new one to him. And it was a strange one to wrap his head around.

...Maybe one of those shoulder-capes, like the pictures he'd seen of that Thunder girl. Either way.
Jason paused, glancing around the room at Zuko's gesture. It certainly was an eclectic grouping, no two ways about that. He shrugged a little, rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, sounds like some folks are pretty used to the hero thing."
If only it weren't against the rules. Still. He'd been a Power Ranger for a year, he could play the role of unconnected guy pretty easily. "There's only... Only five in my world. They wear helmets and masks, though. And, I'll admit." He plucked at his costume. "Not quite this tight."
He paused, eyeing Zuko. "You really don't have superheroes in your world? Or just regular heroes? Like, mythology and stuff?"

"My world has been at war for the last hundred years. And there are no heroes during war, not really. Warriors and soldiers -- and some of them are brave -- but not like this. No one has a job where all they do is protect people."
He had to admit, it sounded like a nice job. It was different from back home. It was less...complicated.
"The closest thing we have to heroes are my friends. And my Uncle." Uncle had noble intentions and had changed the course of his life so that now he would invade Ba Sing Se as a liberating force instead of an occupying one. "I think...I think my friend Aang is the closest thing to the kind of hero we're supposed to be here. He's the Avatar and his job is to bring balance to the world."
That wasn't what made him special, though.
"He doesn't really want to have to do it but he's the only one that can so he does it anyway. And he's kind. When my world isn't a very kind place."
Forgiving, too.
Despite Aang going missing the way he had, Zuko had no doubt he'd come back. The others were right that it probably hadn't been his choice to disappear, that it was probably some kind of spirit thing. Otherwise June would've been able to track him.

Seriously. Awkward.
He mulled it over for a bit, then shook his head. "I mean, yeah, it's cool that you've got the kind of people that would help you end a war. That's cool beyond words. I was just referring more to like, y'know. Hercules or King Arthur or something like that. Gods and heroes fighting monsters?" He trailed off helplessly and rubbed the back of his neck. Man.
His thoughts kept circling around to the whole 'fighting a war for a hundred years' thing. That was just depressing. Maybe with all that fighting, they didn't have time to come up with stories?

But then he talked about those other things, strange names and heroes and monsters.
And he only had one takeaway:
"What's a god?"
