[Open] Training Day
Who| Agent Conneticut and anybody!
What| Just a little training session to test her abilities and maybe a sparring match or two
Where| Training Gym
When| Sometime a little after the main Valor's Day celebrations
Warnings/Notes| N/A
It's almost a little strange to be back in a training room that's not the familiar set up from the Mother of Invention, and it's certainly a more encouraging and constructive set up than the 'push until they break' kind of training they usually had. She'll have to take a look into just how much she can customize the equipment later, right now she was more interesting in testing herself and her new abilities.
Dressed casually, with her armour packed in a large duffel back off to the side of the room, she takes the floor with a deep steadying breath. This was all about testing her own limits, and from there? Her creativity, and how she can use these new talents in battle. But one thing at a time.
First Set
First are the teleportation laps. As she sets out along the track her form blinks forward in short dashes across the open ground mostly without a hitch. There's the odd bump in her runs when a teleport doesn't quite connect and she ends up running into something- which thank god no one was there to see it. ...Hopefully.
Second Set
Then comes the stretch. Connie's no stranger to holographic body doubles, but she's used to having just one. Manipulating a single duplicate doesn't take much thought at all, but how many could she make while retaining that kind of control? Closing her eyes in focus they first appear around her, mirroring her stance before more and more start to materialize, filling the floor with a small crowd of Conneticuts. By the time she gasps for breath and opens her eyes? There's at least a couple dozen surrounding her. Talk about an odd sight for anyone passing by.
Alternatively? She could use a sparring partner.

First Set
Gwen is mostly watching from her spot up on... the ceiling, right up to the point where she messes up one teleport in particular.
"Ouch, that one looked rough. I think? Not really a good judge of teleports."
But she was pretty sure that they weren't supposed to smash their face into stuff while doing it.
no subject
She gives a small shrug as she replies, "Neither am I apparently. Not yet, anyway."
At least it's mostly her pride that's bruised and not her face.
no subject
Gwen removed herself from her spot on the ceiling, landing right in front of the other.
"So is it like you gotta be able to see where you wanna teleport to so you don't actually end up inside a wall?"
no subject
Connie grins, leaning back a little when the woman lands in front of her.
"Seems to be. I'd much rather be running into a wall that stuck halfway through one any day."
no subject
"I haven't really run into walls like that, but having a wall fall on you is close enough, yeah?" Of course, it was a comparable experience.
"Wouldn't recommend that, by the way."
no subject
Connie can't help but nod in agreement to the whole 'don't get crushed by walls' sentiment. She's had a few close calls during training sessions and missions gone wrong with walls...and the rest of buildings that are usually attached to those walls.
"I'm Connie, by the way."
no subject
And more than enough creepy fans to keep on adoring her.
"So hey, you got any other powers besides teleporting and stuff?"
Second set
"That your... thing?" At least Garrus waits until she's opened her eyes and is catching her breath. "Seems like it could be pretty damn useful." And pretty interesting to train against.
no subject
"That's what I'm hoping for," she tilts her head with a curious look, her doubles mirroring her. There are some similarities between this new comer and the aliens in her world but even from this distance she can tell there's a difference to place him as a stranger.
"I'm used to something similar but on a much smaller scale."
no subject
Garrus shrugs and cracks the knuckles in his hands, figuring that says plenty as to what he's thinking.
no subject
A half smile crosses her lips as all of the projections disappear, revealing her standing in the middle of the training mat. It's definitely a weight off her shoulders to let that number of doubles go. Not that she'd be able to handle that many in the heat of a fight anyway, probably a dozen at most would be safe. Watching him from the corner of her eye she steps to the edge of the mat to her bag to grab something to wrap her knuckles with.
"We had a training room, mostly automated turrets and targets unless we were training against each other."
As she winds the fabric around her fingers and knuckles she tips her head to the stranger.
"I can't say I've sparred with anyone of your...body type before. Anywhere off limits? Or should we start with tag?"
no subject
"Don't grab the mandibles," he gestures to the flaps on either side of his face, "and we're good. Got some plating so punching might hurt you more than it hurts me, as a warning." His mandibles flare out in mild amusement. "What's tag?"
A training room with automated turrets would be interesting. Pity there isn't one here; it'd definitely keep him on his toes. Then again, he might have plenty of other challenges to keep him there.
"And is it safe to assume you're human?" It probably is. Still. Better to be safe and ask so he knows what he's not gonna hit there.
no subject
It's not something she's had to clarify before just now, most of the aliens from her world knew exactly what humans were. Dangerous pests, according to them. She'd better get used to it though, she's not home anymore, who knows what sorts of oddness there is in this space. Connie smiles and flexes her fists once they're wrapped.
"Tag is basically a game of 'catch me if you can', any punching would be more for score keeping purposes. Say, first to three solid hits wins the round."
Making her way back to the centre of the mat she stands just out of arms reach. A breath, and her form splits into two, both images of Connie holding up their hands in an open invitation.
"Sound interesting?"
no subject
"You should know, I'm pretty well known for my reach." He shakes out his arms before sinking down into a ready stance. "I'd say might not be quite fair for you, but you've got two. ...Might give me time to try out my thing, too." Garrus' mandibles flare out in a grin before he nods.
"Interested and ready. And since that looks like an invitation..." His move forward, a low swing, isn't that fast just in case she's not really ready. It's a spar, not an actual fight, after all.
no subject
Connie settles into a passive stance, her and her double taking a slight step away from each other to split focus. Now that's certainly an expression, Connie's never seen a grin quite like it but she answers it with one of her own. It's been a while since she last had a good-hearted sparring match, plus he's got her curious now. She's still got a trick up her sleeve, but what is his?
As soon as he moves forward, Connie-1 backsteps to get out of the way while Connie-2 lunges into a roll, trying to flank him.
no subject
For lack of a better term, Garrus stretches his mental muscles to try to find out if there's anything he can hack or recalibrate about the duplicates, deliberately letting her flank him. His arms are long, and without the ability to use guns she has to get in reach to make the flanking useful. In the meantime, he's trying to glitch out the copy, if it's possible.
