76 is not exactly thrilled with this turn of events, if these events are even real. He’s not convinced this isn’t some kind of simulation meant to ply him for intelligence—he wouldn’t put it past some of his enemies, but he has to admit this is extremely elaborate.

He doesn’t take the oath. Says that he needs time to consider, but that’s sort of a lie because he doesn’t intend to concede unless they can come up with an extremely good reason for him to do so. This isn’t his fight. The Legion, as it’s been described, reminds him all too much of Overwatch, and he’s not sure he’s ready to walk that road again, not after how that went down. Saving the world (universe? multiverse?) is all well and good, of course, but 76 has learned the hard way what an impossible task it really is. He’s not keen on doing it again—doesn’t trust that they’re not making the same mistakes he did.

It wouldn’t frustrate him so much if he hadn’t been right in the middle of progress back home. He’d found Ana. Felt for the first time in a very long time that he was on his way to answers, and now this. Is it any wonder he doesn’t want to sign himself over to this?

The observation deck is almost laughably appropriate for this kind of introspection. 76 could have gone to space (or at least into orbit) whenever he wanted, but he’d never exactly found time, like he never found time for an innumerable list of things. Now, he spends his first few hours out of the medbay staring down at the Earth, wondering what he could have done differently, or if this was inevitable all along.

This huge dude in full tactical gear and deep contemplation is definitely someone you want to talk to, right? Right.

2 - Sim Room/Training Gym

But he’s not about to let himself be idle. Hallucination or simulation or not, it pays to keep sharp, so when he’s not trying to learn every inch of this new place, he’s running himself through almost everything he can get his hands on in the training facilities. Since he can't do anything to solve his current problem (one which is still a little baffling to him), he figures now is as good a time as any to go blow off some steam by shooting things.

76 isn’t especially creative when it comes to this sort of thing, so he programs up a relatively simple target range, which he guesses is a nice thing to be able to do. Being kidnapped to space and/or being stuck in a space hallucination is no excuse to let himself slip.

You might not want to interrupt him while he’s shooting (his very big gun), but maybe, possibly, he will not react badly to being approached. We can hope, anyway.

Getting shot would just be a new scar and new bragging rights, which is something Casey can think because he's never been shot.

"Nice arm," and the fact that he can say that tells him his face isn't broken. Hurts like a angry ninja though. "Sorry. My bad. Really. Ow."

He slams a shaking hand on the railing to pull himself up. His indignation about the big guy really not having to hit that hard was fighting with a desire to prove he could totally take a hit like that no problem, and pride ultimately won out. He'd totally swag out of here just as soon as the stars faded from his eyes.

If 76 is at all apologetic, he doesn't show it. He stands, slowly, brushing his gloves off on his pants before giving Casey an obvious once-over. Even with the visor covering most of his face, he's got quite a stare.

"You should get some ice on that."

He knows how hard he can punch. It's not fun to be on the receiving end.

"Ah, what, this? Pffft, it's nothin'. I'll ice it later. It's just a tap for The Reaper."

Old habits never die, they just adapt to the name of the hero. It's kind of remarkable that Casey can face that stare with a black eye and not look intimidated even as his knees shake. He's faced way scarier than a mean army dude with a visor.

There is a small pause as 76 seems to process this new information. It's quite possible he thinks of this name in another context.

"Is that what you call yourself?"

Come on, kid.

Casey completely fails to pick up on the nature of this pause, and the pause itself isn't weird enough to register as 'problem.'

"Sure is!" And he flips his old skull mask down for emphasis. "Used to do this back home, kinda fun to do it as an official hero."

Oh my god. Casey can't see it, but 76 is definitely rolling his eyes. Why is everyone who likes skulls such a tryhard--at least this kid has the excuse of being like, fifteen. Probably.

"Aren't you a little young for this kind of thing?"

The vigilante thing, presumably.

"There an age limit on awesome, pal?" Cause he looks like he's hitting the upper floor.

...Casey would never actually say that to him, it'd be like mouthing off to Splinter. It's taking your life in your hands. But he can't help a little showboating.

"Ask all the criminals who's butts I've kicked, dude, they'll tell you. And if you need a second opinion, check with the mutant monsters. And the aliens."

76 raises an eyebrow, very obvious indicating that he's questioning this baby child's 'awesome' status. Perhaps if he hadn't opened this conversation by nearly mowing him down with roller skates.

It's clear he's not quite taking this seriously.

"Any of them here to vouch?"

He DOUBTS it.

Pfft, like 76 is the first guy to underestimate him. Casey can't help the little eyeroll and the smug little lean in. He's certainly a close talker when he wants to intimidate.

"Do they let bad guys join the Legion, dude? Don't think so. But if you wanna come with me on a mission, I can show you how it's done."

He’s calling this bluff. Of course he is!

“Maybe if I take the oath.”

Because guess who hasn’t done that, yet.

Well, if that's the only problem...

"Hey, I'm Legion. I could probably get ya clearance to tag along if you want a trial run."

Hey, it sounds like a great idea to Casey. "Ya know, like my apprentice or somethin'."

This time, he does laugh, but it's a thoroughly unpleasant sound. Soldier: 76 is no one's sidekick, if Casey was at all curious about his opinion on the matter.

"In your dreams, kid."

Casey blows out some dismissive air. Hear that pfft, big guy? Cause he can do it harder.

Anyway this guy is a huge jerk and Casey shouldn't have apologized for slamming into him.

"Whatever dude, your loss. You wanna brood deck all day instead of doing something wicked, that's your deal."

He's totally gonna brood on deck all day instead of doing something wicked.

Sorry, bro.

Casey stands and watches him for a moment before rolling his eyes and huffing a sigh.

"Fine. Whatever."

He turns around to leave...and then makes an up yours gesture when he's pretty sure 76 isn't looking.
