Who| Sam and OPEN
What| Daddy issues.
Where| Habitat deck
When| After Vance's network post re: the IC anon meme
Warnings/Notes| Teenager being overly dramatic.

If he heard one more Dad joke, Sam was going to cut someone.

And so, he took the high road and elected to remove himself from the situation, except maybe it didn't really count as the high road when removing himself from the situation involved rather forcefully jamming his omnicom under his pillow and slamming the door on his way out of his room.

(Dramatic exits definitely worked a lot better in a tiny house where people were always close enough to hear them, that was for sure.)

Sam's section of the habitat deck wasn't really what one might've expected. It wasn't Arizona, or anywhere on Earth at all, for that matter - without his family, he didn't really see much worth having there but their old house, and that wound was still fresh enough that there was no way he was going to pour salt in it by putting it where he could keep thinking about it. With that off the table, though, he was faced with the question of where else he felt comfortable, and the answer had come surprisingly easily.

The Watcher's Citadel, on the surface of the moon. It still felt off, despite how faithfully the support staff had managed to replicate the details, but it was the same kind of off that he'd find there at home, ever since the citadel's lone occupant had been killed. It was an off he was at least kind of used to.

And it was an off that was still easier to ignore when he didn't bother to go inside - just found a place to flop onto his back, arms stretched out to his sides, and stare at the artificial sky. Here, too, the details were spot on; the starmap was accurate, and set to shift as appropriate to keep up with the time and rotation of the moon.

People were so stupid.

"It's in the Trephoss system. Fourth planet from the sun. They're pretty friendly if you ever want to visit. The name of the planet is music. E, C, F, G, E, B, A, C, lower octave G."

Rich tried to remember what it sounded like. Without Worldmind here to help him, he only had his own shoddy memory to rely on.

He hummed it, mostly on key, and while it was simple, it was pretty. It wasn't a worst way to name a world. And the tranquil expression on Rich's face made it clear that it was one of those things that made him not regret all the time he'd spent in space. How could you regret experiencing a world that was named with music?

"Yep. Sounds right. And the name they have for their sun is even prettier."

It felt right to have another Nova to share this with.

Things could be different now.
