Who| Agent Carolina & Agent North, Agent Connecticut, Theta, and open to others
What| Arrival/recovery/training
Where| The medbay, and then the training rooms.
When| After “The Reject Pile” and “An Eye for an Eye”
Warnings/Notes| to be added
[ CLOSED TO THETA AND NORTH ]
It had been a hell of an arrival. She’d just wanted a moment to catch her breath, to gather her strength so they could get the hell out of that hell hole of a base, only she didn’t have the chance. She’d arrived with warnings flashing on her HUD, unable to really comprehend what was knocking her out before she was knocked out.
And then, waking up in this medical ward. They’d at least answered her questions as soon as she started demanding answers. Shvaughn is quick to appear, to explain what’s going on. Carolina might be dehydrated and hurting, but she takes advantage of someone willingly answering questions to keep asking them.
And when she’s done, and rests, the next time she wakes up, Brande is there. Even though she’s not done recuperating, she’s quick to agree to become a Legionnaire. Even with everything going back home - but Shvaughn had assured her they wouldn’t be in danger.
Which is what leads to this - her having the ring nearby her hospital bed, turning over the omnicom in her hand. She’s still relegated to bed rest, and she thinks she’ll catch up on any information she can get a hold of, while she’s figuring out what the hell kind of outfit she’s going to have.
Unbeknownst to her, though, agreeing means she’s registered - means she pops up in a scannable database.
[ CLOSED TO CONNIE ]
Carolina’s been in the recovery wing for another day when they bring someone else new in. She’s looking at the omnicom when they bring her in, and so she misses it at first, until she hears the voice of a nurse checking her over. It’s the name that catches her.
That drags her gaze away, locking on the other hospital bed. That’s someone she didn’t quite realize was here, the literal definition of seeing is believing.
“CT?”
[ HOSPITAL (OPEN) ]
Carolina will be in the hospital for a few days, from her arrival to her release. She’ll easily accept visitors… no matter who they are, or why they’re coming by.
[ TRAINING GYM (OPEN) ]
She knows she’s developed powers - discovered the use of some of them in the hospital. Accidentally phasing through her bed had been one of them, and they’d been lucky she hadn’t ended up with a metal wheel through her body before she phased back.
She’s been having training lessons, but even though she was stuck for days on end in her own armor - she’s not going to take it easy. Even though she’s only cleared for light duty and training, here she is in the training gym.
She might be spending some time kicking and boxing a punching bag - but she’s also stopping to test out her new powers. She’ll move forward to move through the punching bag, or give it a hard hit and then brace herself against it coming back, seemingly becoming as hard as rock given that it bounces back without her giving an inch.

Training Gym
Having one arm is no excuse. Now, perhaps, is the time to set pride aside and see about having it replaced. Others have done similarly. There's no reason why not. But pride wants to see her learn to wield it perfectly without it, first.
So she arrives, and sees someone already making use of the facilities. Marjara stands watch for a moment, watching as the woman tests her powers. A newcomer. Must be. They all have that look about them, when they have these gifts for the first time.
no subject
Case in point - she's discovered she can stay intangible, but as soon as she wonders how she's still walking she starts sinking through the floor. And as soon as she realizes that she pulls herself back, turning solid and falling backwards onto her ass.
She gives an annoyed huff, resting her arms on her knees and then looking up at the woman watching her.
"...Hi?" Her tone seems to ask why she's watching her.
no subject
"It wasn't my intention to disturb you," she offers in return. "It all must seem rather strange at the start. Finding your feet."
And she offers her a hand up, with the one hand she does have.
no subject
So she reaches up, taking the hand and pulling herself up - and then having to look down at the smaller woman.
"It's definitely taking some getting used to," Carolina acknowledges after a moment. She takes the moment to really look her over - the arm, the ears - before accepting it as somehow alien. "Don't have anything like this back home."
no subject
If she notes the way Carolina looks at her, she doesn't seem phased. Staring is expected more often than not. Instead, she merely shrugs. "But some things stay the same. There's always a fight to be had, and people to fight in it. That's why we're here."
Though the battlefields are foreign to her, and their enemies strange even to her, that remains constant. It's almost reassuring. It's the one thing she knows, after all this time.
"I'm Marjara, by the way. Of Clan Lavellan."
no subject
"I'm not exactly complaining about having something to fight," she admits. "I'm Carolina. Just Carolina, although I guess you could call me 'agent' if you wanted to be really formal."
no subject
Her smile broadens with true amusement as she rocks back onto her heels.
"You were a warrior, then? Where you come from."
no subject
Then that question and Carolina tilts her head again. "I was a soldier," she corrects, because that feels important to note the difference to her. "But, same thing, I think. I've seen plenty of fights, but nothing on this scale before."
She shrugs as she says it, planting her hands on her hips.
no subject
Her eyebrows lift as she gestures vaguely with her hand.
"And apparently mechanical undead."
no subject
It sounded awful, mechanical undead virus. Connie had said she had been infected, and the idea was not a comforting one in the slightest that she could easily have arrived in time to fight them. She might face worse, though. She was prepared - just not excited about it.
"I have to admit I knew about the theory of universes, but I always assumed it wasn't real. And then here it's living proof of a lot of things I thought weren't real." She shrugs.
"Heavy stuff."
no subject
Still. It's a lot to come to terms with. She gets it. Her tattooed brow crinkles slightly. "Some things stay pretty constant, though, if you're used to fighting."
no subject
"This whole having powers thing, though, that's new to me. I'm used to having enhancements, but that requires a full suit of armor, not just... thinking about it."
no subject
Her hand lifts, tucking a loose lock of hair behind one ear absently. "What power did they grant you? If you don't mind my curiosity."
no subject
"I can pass through things or let them pass through me, like a ghost. But I can also become rock-hard. I can move during the first, but I'm stuck in place during the second," she explains. "I haven't figured out if I can do them both at the same time yet."
no subject
It's slow. She doesn't even appear to notice she's doing it.
no subject
Not because she thinks she'd actually betray her but, well - trusting an unknown at her back has already bit her in the behind once, recently. When Marjara starts to hit out of line of sight, Carolina turns a little to keep facing her.
"I agree though - I would have thought one or the other, not both."
no subject
Ah. But now she's stopped in place, head tilted to consider Carolina thoughtfully for a moment. Then, a smile tugs at her mouth, curling upwards slowly.
"It would be interesting to see. Well. Need someone to help you test it out?"
no subject
"Like maybe in a sparring match?" Her tone sounds a little goading, in a friendly way.
