Movie Night V: This Time It's Personal

For once, it's been a fairly good week. For once, nobody is dead or dying or severely traumatized. It might actually be a good time to introduce horror movies to people, and for Wash to make good on a months-old promise.

He's finally showing Scream.

The customary snack and drink tables are set up, with a bit more open space now that he's realized people are willing to contribute to them. Chairs and cushions and couches are arranged for easy viewing of the projector screen, with stacks of blankets and pillows within reach. Outside the door is a sign with the movie's title, MPAA rating, and a brief summary, along with a pair of notes added: This movie is meant to be scary, and it IS violent, along with the usual Movie night is neutral territory.

Some people simply have that way about them. Locus, for his part? Didn't seem remotely affected by the gesture, simply noting it as another of her mannerisms.

But it appeared she wasn't opposed to the attention, which meant an approach might be possible. Slipping around the room's various other occupants, he drew close enough to be within comfortable speaking distance before nodding in her direction.

"Your work on our last mission was impressive."

And so he gave into his curiosity. Amélie watched Locus approach and those opening words did a wonderful job of stroking her ego. Not being a slave to emotion didn't mean acknowledging her superior skill wouldn't go a long way with her.

"It is always a good mission when I need not use a full clip to complete it," she replied. "I almost want to let that Daxamite know it was me who shot her."

The corner of his mouth curled upwards. An understandable impulse, from where he stood. It was important to take pride in your work, after all.

"Hm. Caution or humility that stopped you?"

These are important things to know. He's worked with egotists before, but had this been Felix? He would already be openly gloating. Widowmaker doesn't seem nearly as stuck on herself, not at a glance at least.

"I would rather maintain the advantage of surprise. I have yet to be identified by our collective enemies. Even that media outlet failed to link my shots directly to me."

It would be stupid to walk up to someone who had been making deals with Chronoblivion and tack a neon sniper sign above her head. It was a blessing that Widow's Kiss had its assault mode so she never appeared to be carrying around a high powered sniper rifle.

"I know that will not last forever, but until it does..."

At that, Locus let out a quiet snort of disapproval. The media. How helpful they'd managed to be in the midst of all of this.

"They've proven to be quite effective at shining a spotlight on people," he remarks dryly. After all, his own spotlight had been very pointedly shining on him in all manner of uncomfortable ways not so long ago. "But there are ways to work every position to an advantageous one. Still. I do not blame you."

"At this moment in time, I find gloating to the Daxamite serves no purpose other than to stroke my own ego. Tempting, but unnecessary." Her lips curled up in a shadow of a smile. "I shall save that for a better target."

Seems reasonable enough, and it's an answer that appears to satisfy him. Locus gives a nod, large fingers drifting down to absently scritch behind Luna's ears as she pokes her head out once more.

"Fair enough. A record speaks more highly than self-praise. We'll have another mission to contend with soon enough."

"Not soon enough," she murmured. Idle hands were the devil's playthings, one would say, and boredom did not do her well. At least she had more than enough to read to occupy her time.

And things like this movie night for her to try to relearn what it was like to be human. It still felt like an overly tight glove.
