It has been, to put none too fine a point on it, a shitty week. Everyone needs a place where they can relax and get their minds off what's happened; to that end, Wash figures it's about time for another movie night, and goes for a comedy this time. Sure, Clue is technically a murder mystery with a slow build, but he's pretty sure people will enjoy it as long as he's up front about it.

There's tables full of snacks and drinks set up, per usual. Extra blankets are piled on the arms and backs of chairs and sofas, because blankets make things better and therefore need to be available. There's a sign outside the door with the movie's title, MPAA rating, and a brief summary, along with a note at the bottom: Movie night is neutral territory. Might as well make it known up front.

Connie had gotten up to refill her snack plate but it looks like in the time she'd been gone someone had stolen her seat on the sofa. With a small pout she grabs the blanket she had claimed as hers from the back of the sofa seat as she looks for a new spot, eventually settling on the space beside what was either a very large man under a single blanket, or an adult in a blanket fort. Could go either way, she's seen quite a few people around the room gathering as many pillows around themselves as they could to get comfy.

Voice pitched low so as not to interrupt the movie too much she pauses by the space near the arm rest.

"Hey, do you mind if I join you?"

The Chief shakes his head. "It's fine."

Upon closer inspection, he is just one very large person. He shuffles things around a little in an effort to make sure there's space without it being awkward. His arm is as scarred as his face, a plasma burn in particular running down from his elbow.

"Have you seen this?" he asks. He's still trying to work out the point of it. He trusts that there's a method to Wash's madness, but...

"Thanks," Connie offers him a grin, waiting until he's resettled himself before she takes a seat by her end of the sofa, legs curled up to lean against the arm wrest as she drapes her own blanket across her lap. Chief's not the first really really big guy she's come across, and though the scars catch her eye she doesn't stare.

Glancing up once she's settled she shakes her head, saying "A long time ago, I barely remember it but it's a good one. Have you?"

"No," says the Chief. He looks back at the screen, brow furrowed. "Wash keeps threatening to show us a horror movie, but looks like he's still holding off on that. Too soon, maybe."

Maybe he'll just ask Wash to show Scream to him one of these days, he's sort of curious by now. (And reasonably confident there's been no horror movie made that could shake him.)

"That or it didn't make it to this century."

The other possibility.

"Hm... that depends on the horror movie. A cheesey horror movie wouldn't be too bad but- yeah, psychological horror or anything too gorey might be too soon."

There's also the trouble that most horror movies weren't appropriate for some of the younger Legionnaires. Not that she's usually a stickler for that sort of things but after SH? The less traumatizing things they have to see right now the better.

"If this one's made it I'll bet the other one did too. Wash is good at finding things."

The hesitation to show Scream is another part of why the Chief wants to know. Is it really that bad? It's become an equal motive with wanting to get the jokes about Reaper.

Then she remarks on Wash's apparent talent for finding things.

"You know him?"

It's not surprising, he's a more social person than the Chief is and is on casual terms with a lot more Legionnaires. But it's worth asking.

Connie glances up at the question, a brow lifted curiously as she gives a small nod.

"Do you?"

She knows a few folks that York has pointed out as friends and people she can trust but doesn't quite have that same list from Wash yet.

The Chief nods.

"Like to think so."

He will casually not mention that they are now war crimes buddies who may have also technically cuddled once. Nobody needs to know any of that.

Good to know. A small smile quickly crosses her lips as she tilts her head towards Chief by way of neutral greeting. Her hands are full and he's all tucked up under a blanket so no handshakes here.

"I'm Connie. Haven't been here all that long so I'm still figuring out who's who."

"Master Chief," he replies, with a returned head tilt gesture. No full rank, no Spartan number, he's a Legionnaire here. They're meaningless to most people on this station.

He doesn't have any reason to think Connie might be from a world that knows who he is.

To be fair Connie only knows of Chief by reputation around Legion World through her old team-mates (and the anon-meme), and she didn't live long enough to see the end of the war or who was responsible for it. So while there is a glint of recognition in her eyes at the name it's subdued and professional.

"Ah, so you're Chief. It's nice to finally meet you."

"Finally?" he repeats, arching a brow. He's just sort of curious what someone could've heard to merit a finally.

Maybe something from Wash. That's what friends do, right?

"A friend recommended you. ...That sounds so formal, sorry," she snorts at herself and shakes her head, resettling her plate of snacks so she could curl her knees up under the blanket.

"He said you're good people. Kinda been a while since we had people like that around."

"Glad to know I'm well-reviewed."

If it's about his combat efficacy, he hopes he doesn't have to live up to it again anytime soon.

"Was it Wash?' he asks. This last bit seems to have been a good confirmation for him.

Connie grins and gives a small shrug. She's not seriously trying to hide it, mostly teasing a little.

"Maybe. Heard it from a few people, actually."

It's always a relief to know they've got well trained and competent team mates, but similarly Connie's in no rush to see Chief in action.

That just draws a questioning head tilt. He doesn't need to say anything, just offer an invitation to elaborate and see if Connie takes it.

What people say about him isn't important, nobody knows anything vital about him here (except Wash and Cortana, and they won't tell), but he's allowed to be curious.

Cute.

Her grin broadens as she takes a relaxed drink of her soda before she finally relents with half a shrug.

"I suppose Wash might have been one of them. And I trust his judgement."

The Chief finally feels like he has a bead on who Connie might be, if she knows Wash that well.

"Were you a freelancer?" he asks.

It's not exactly a secret that she was but the question still gives her pause.

"Connecticut. Usually go by 'CT'."
