Movie Night IV: Movie Harder

Who| Wash and anyone who wants to join
What| Movie night!
Where| The same lounge movie night is always in
When| A few days after Silent Horizon and No Sanity Clause
Warnings/Notes| They're watching Clue, because Tim Curry is the cure for everything.

It has been, to put none too fine a point on it, a shitty week. Everyone needs a place where they can relax and get their minds off what's happened; to that end, Wash figures it's about time for another movie night, and goes for a comedy this time. Sure, Clue is technically a murder mystery with a slow build, but he's pretty sure people will enjoy it as long as he's up front about it.

There's tables full of snacks and drinks set up, per usual. Extra blankets are piled on the arms and backs of chairs and sofas, because blankets make things better and therefore need to be available. There's a sign outside the door with the movie's title, MPAA rating, and a brief summary, along with a note at the bottom: Movie night is neutral territory. Might as well make it known up front.

"Um, they're cute, I guess." Said with all the hesitance of someone who doesn't want to admit that something is cute and he likes it. "I'm good, though."

Koromaru, naturally, picks that exact moment to lift his head and whine softly, and Ken glances down in momentary confusion. "What? Did you want some?"

(Or did Koromaru just want to give Ken an excuse to enjoy cute fruit while still protecting his fragile preteen-boy ego? Koromaru is pretty smart like that.)

Connie sits up a little when the ball of fluff she had assumed to be a blanket moves, and a warmer smile crosses her lips as she chuckles a little at the dog's whine.

"Wow- it's so fluffy I didn't even notice. May I?"

She asks and holds up a slice of apple to offer to the dog. She won't feed him unless the boy gives her permission but- wow it's nice to see animals again.

"Sure. I mean, if he wants some, it's not like I can stop him." It probably sounds odd to some of the others, the way Ken talks about Koromaru more like an equal than a pet, but he figures anyone who spends more than a few minutes around them ought to be able to notice that Koromaru's smarter than the average dog.

There's a bark of agreement from Koromaru before he leans in for that apple slice.

Oh? That's interesting...then again Connie's never met a fully sentient animal before but they're bound to be around in this world. So, better keep her surprise and judgement to herself, even if the dog's bark of confirmation draws a smile from her as she offers over the apple slice.

"So you two are more like partners, then?"

"That's a good way to put it. We're...used to watching each other's backs."

It might be a slight understatement, since they're also used to shanking monsters in tandem, but it's perfectly true and a lot more conversational.
