Movie Night IV: Movie Harder
Who| Wash and anyone who wants to join
What| Movie night!
Where| The same lounge movie night is always in
When| A few days after Silent Horizon and No Sanity Clause
Warnings/Notes| They're watching Clue, because Tim Curry is the cure for everything.
It has been, to put none too fine a point on it, a shitty week. Everyone needs a place where they can relax and get their minds off what's happened; to that end, Wash figures it's about time for another movie night, and goes for a comedy this time. Sure, Clue is technically a murder mystery with a slow build, but he's pretty sure people will enjoy it as long as he's up front about it.
There's tables full of snacks and drinks set up, per usual. Extra blankets are piled on the arms and backs of chairs and sofas, because blankets make things better and therefore need to be available. There's a sign outside the door with the movie's title, MPAA rating, and a brief summary, along with a note at the bottom: Movie night is neutral territory. Might as well make it known up front.

"Half this squad will ditch the moment the movie is over and you know it," he says, shrugging. "The promise of mindless entertainment and snacks are all that draw them to these group activities, and once those are gone they'll go right back to being lone wolves. Nah, you gotta set it up beforehand so they've got no choice but to accept their fate and crawl in if they wanna see the film."

Stabbing the little straw through the foil bit, Dave shrugs, unconvinced. "There's gotta be a better way to trap your teammates for a feelings jam than a movie. I mean, A, there are people who will punch you for trying to talk in the middle of a movie." He's definitely gotten decked a fair number of times for opening his mouth at a key moment during one of Karkat's movies.
Actually, that's a bad train of thought right now. Abort, abort. Dave frowns faintly and fiddles with his straw, powering onward. "And B, how many people will actually admit to anything while in a group like for these things? You gotta corner 'em while they're alone like a seasoned serial killer, except instead of taking the murder route you whip out the friendspeech and assault them with your concern."

He settles in with a little wiggle, takes a long sip from his juice box, and glances back over to Wash with a flat expression. "So you spent the rest of that day after getting released just running around checking on everyone's emotional well-being like the sluttiest moirail possible? And yet I got no such coercive feelings jam. I'm hurt, dude."
Then again, he did pretty much disappear to go hide and sulk and eventually curl up with the samurai fam. And he's just dicking around anyway, 100%.

Because beating up a clown is totally the worst that happened back there. They definitely don't need to get into what came after that. Dave shrugs, the picture of flippancy, and sips at his juice.
"So," he adds after a moment. "Is everyone okay?"
no subject
"Which is why the point of tonight is relaxation and not teamwork exercises."

Case in point:
"Yeah, sure," Dave says, nodding sagely. "Relaxing and recovering from a mission of pure horror with a movie about a string of murders. I can't imagine anything more comforting."
He's just fucking around now. Anyone upset by Clue, no matter how acute or recent their trauma, should be seeking more intense treatment than a chill night with their teammates anyway. But hell, giving Wash shit for his movie choices might just become a running thing.
