VALOR'S DAY [Modplot]
Who| Open to everyone!
What| Valor's Day Celebrations
Where| On Legion World or on Earth below
When| After heistplot.
Warnings/Notes| N/A

VALOR'S DAY Universally celebrated through the United Planets, this yearly holiday celebrates the hero Valor, a Daxamite responsible for helping many UP species like the Braalians and Winathians to colonize their worlds over a thousand years ago. Valor's Day has over time evolved into a general holiday that promotes togetherness, charity, and good will through the galaxy.
Valor's Day celebrations through the UP are know for their displays of multi-colored lights, decorated trees, garlands of various plants and flowers, and "goodwill" carols. Valor's Day is also associated with Valor pageants and "origin" plays, and the playing of the blootsplort horn and tringlebells. Traditionally, gifts are given between different individuals, with each species having their own specific gift-giving traditions.
Legion World is no exception when it comes to the festivities. Garlands of rainbow flowers and wreathes of fragrant grasses decorate the halls and common areas. In some places where it won't interfere in Legion operations, goodwill carols play. The music is played on alien instruments and is probably very different compared to what some of the Legionnaires might be used to hearing around winter holidays, but it has the same mix of cheer and brightness as Christmas carols.

It's a source of perpetual slight bemusement to her that people who are willing to charge headlong into a hail of bullets freeze up at the thought of any other kind of inconvenience or vulnerability.
no subject
Nothing to say to that, then. Just step back, testing to make certain that he is in fact truly free.

"Feel free to call me if you get caught again and the thought of holiday cheer makes your blood run cold," she says, amused, hands on her hips as Locus backs off.
no subject
Kissing random people just...isn't his thing.
no subject
"Hey, one up on half the people here." She laughs. "Relax, Locus, I'm not gonna make you stay and chat. We can go a few rounds in the gym if you want."
Nita's pretty sure that's the closest he gets to easy camaraderie, and frankly, she thinks anyone as closed off as he is can use whatever approximation of friendship he can get.

Then again, the prospect of having another sparring partner is appealing.
"If you like."
no subject
"Wouldn't have offered if I didn't like, dude." She rolls her shoulders, grinning with a bit of an evil edge. "Not a lot of people here who can keep up with me."
What she lacks in finesse she makes up for in brute force and skin that can turn a point-blank assault rifle blast.
no subject
"Lead the way." And he nods in the direction of the training rooms.

Nita's normal walk has something of a swagger to it, so it can be hard to tell if she's feeling cockier than usual. Her bravado lacks the hollow ring it would have coming from a person who feels like they have something to prove; she might be wrong in her assessment of her capabilities, but she is entirely confident in them.
She'd be real obnoxious if she weren't made of sunlight and rainbows.

Felix, too, had been entirely confident, and usually justified in said confidence. It's not a comparison she wants him to make, he's certain.
Locus lapses into silence as they walk, with only the footsteps of that power suit betraying his movement.
no subject
Nita's as good as her word, not trying to engage him in chit-chat during the walk. Silence doesn't bother her, at least not when there's no tension hanging in the air. Locus is just quiet, and she knows the difference between that and the silent treatment...not that she's not stubborn enough to ride out any attempts at the silent treatment, mind.
In the gym, she scuffs experimentally at the surface of the mat with one bare foot. "Ground rules...no hospitalizations?"
They play rough where she's from, okay.
no subject
"Anything else?"
He's not coming out of the suit without request, though she doesn't appear too concerned about that. Clearly, attacking her head-on is going to be a fool's errand.
There's more to her than first appears.
no subject
"Uh...if you've got heat-based powers, tell me now. Otherwise, nah, I'm good." It doesn't even occur to her that revealing her weakness might be a bad thing. Locus is on her side. Besides, everyone where she's from knows about the water dependency thing already. The perils of being related to one of the most recognizable supers on the planet, y'know? She's always done fine before.
When she pads to the other side of the mat and squares off, an alien (to Nita, anyway) formality comes over her for a moment, an echo of childhood lessons with stern tutors. Lacking a weapon to salute with, she bows fractionally instead.
no subject
"Weapons?"
The armor itself might count as one, if you were to stretch the definition. But it's worth being clear before they begin.
no subject
She shifts into a more balanced stance, bringing her hands up to a position not quite a boxer's guard. "I'm pretty tough, Locus. Don't worry too much about hurting me."
