VALOR'S DAYUniversally celebrated through the United Planets, this yearly holiday celebrates the hero Valor, a Daxamite responsible for helping many UP species like the Braalians and Winathians to colonize their worlds over a thousand years ago. Valor's Day has over time evolved into a general holiday that promotes togetherness, charity, and good will through the galaxy.

Valor's Day celebrations through the UP are know for their displays of multi-colored lights, decorated trees, garlands of various plants and flowers, and "goodwill" carols. Valor's Day is also associated with Valor pageants and "origin" plays, and the playing of the blootsplort horn and tringlebells. Traditionally, gifts are given between different individuals, with each species having their own specific gift-giving traditions.

Legion World is no exception when it comes to the festivities. Garlands of rainbow flowers and wreathes of fragrant grasses decorate the halls and common areas. In some places where it won't interfere in Legion operations, goodwill carols play. The music is played on alien instruments and is probably very different compared to what some of the Legionnaires might be used to hearing around winter holidays, but it has the same mix of cheer and brightness as Christmas carols.

"Kids love the holidays because of these little traditions. Every-time someone plays along it makes them feel even better." And Brainy had mentioned that the kid had been sick. Human, digital, robotican- being sick sucks and is scary. Playing along doens't really hurt anyone and it makes a little kid feel less scared so-

He offers Nita a hand, grinning. "Happy Valor Day, Nita."

It's a good thing Nita's hard to offend, or offering her a handshake would do it. She's seen you flirting with everything that moves, mister. What does everyone else have that she doesn't? Nothing, that's what.

Nita does accept his hand, but also pulls in close, going on tiptoe to plant a gentle kiss on his cheek. Maybe Nondenominational Space Christmas imitation mistletoe will let you off with a firm handshake, but where she's from, that won't cut it.

"Happy Valor's Day, York. You too, Delta."

Okay that is- super cute and he is totally not giving a goofy little smile. He'd been trying to behave around Nita cuz, well, taken, one does not make moves on one's Legionnaire squeeze, etc. But-

It is the holidays so he turns to give her a quick kiss on the cheek right back.

Happy Valor's Day to you as well, Nita. Delta blips into existence to extend the greeting, his customary hologram altered somewhat with a tiny green santa hat.

Get used to it, York. Nita and personal space have a nodding acquaintanceship at best.

"Nice hat, D." Why yes, she's picked up the nickname without asking first. Compared to what she calls her teammates, that's getting off light.

She waves a hand out to her side experimentally, and fails to be stopped by a force field. "Yup, there we go. Man, you'd think there was boiling oil or thumbscrews involved by the way people are complaining about this."

Forced social interactions are abhorrent to people, ones that include some manner of physical contact have a twenty six percent greater likelihood of being complained about after the fact.

D is, on occasion, pretty damn observant. York's almost proud, even if he steps aside without blinking. "It's just a kid being a kid. Sure, a digital kid, but a kid none the less."

For a moment he thinks of Theta and his smile goes a little sad, but Nita's a damn ball of sunshine and it's hard to hold onto it. "You coming to movie night? I heard we're doing Die Hard."

"They should count their blessings. This is so much better than having to read The Hungry Little Caterpillar every night for a month." Nita's life is sufficiently weird that one, she babysits for the Fantastic Four, and two, doesn't realize that's weird.

"And of course I'm doing movie night, it's the one time everyone around here acts borderline normal." She's kinda joking, but also kinda not. She's also a pointy-eared woman with gills who goes everywhere in a bathing suit and has wings on her ankles, so it's just remotely possible her judgment about what constitutes normalcy is not to be trusted.

"Less twiggy and more like people that happen to have powers and a duty rather than, well. All the super-drama." He waves a hand vaguely around them. Sure, Chronoblivion is a thing and it's very scary and they're all working to prevent it but-

Remembering that they aren't JUST soldiers and heroes and whatever. That's kind of important too.

"It still kinda weirds me out there are universes where this kinda stuff doesn't happen." She waves a hand to indicate not just Legion World, but everything going, on as well. "Yeah, infinite universes means infinite possibilities. I just never thought about how out-there some of the possibilities are."

Yes, Nita, keep thinking worlds where there aren't constant existential threats to the fabric of the universe are the out-there ones.

"It must be nice." To have a relatively normal, mundane existence. "Boring but, you know, nice."

Less to worry about save their own lives, their own jobs, no intergalactic warfare, no secret government projects? Now that's the dream.
