Azula intro [open]

Who| Azula
What| Step 1 of Azula's Plan for World Legion Domination: Meet & Greet
Where| Crew Quarters
Warnings/Notes| N/A

This was certainly the most interesting that had happened to Azula for a long, long time. And naturally, she meant to make the most of it.

She looked around. She was in some sort of barracks, she'd heard them called crew quarters. While each person had a fair amount of space to themselves, more than any soldier in the Fire Nation, it was not what Azula was used to.

But still better than where she'd been before.

Of course, where she was didn't exactly matter. Azula knew to succeed her, she would have to have allies. Or at least people who thought she considered them allies. Which meant she had to leave this room and go out there.

She headed to the door, then paused. It had been so long since she was last on the outside. For a moment, she wondered if she could do it. It had been a long year in that facility and she didn't want to go back.

"I'm being ridiculous," she told herself. "I am the rightful leader of the Fire Nation and the most powerful firebender in the world. I'll have this Legion bowing before in no time."

And so she headed out, head held high, looking for people who would be useful to her.

"Spicy, huh? You would have liked the food my friend Leo would make then," he said with a smirk. "I'm pretty sure his goal in life was to make us all breath fire," Jason added. He said it like a joke, not that Azula would get it, having never met Leo. "Never heard of komodo sausage before, but maybe they have it here or a way of making something similar enough for you."

Jason was glad he wasn't the only one blown away by the size of everything. He shook himself out of it and turned to Azula again. "Come on, I think I see where you can get your food. Looks like they have it set up like a restaurant where you place an order or something." He gestured across the hall, they'd have to weave through a TON of people, but it was a pretty straight shot and actually pretty welcoming.

The fact of the matter was Jason was just as intimidated by the unfamiliar, strange technology, and the aliens. However, Jason had learned a long time ago that you didn't show that you were uncomfortable or intimidated. You didn't show fear. He rolled his shoulders back-- they didn't need fire to get through this crowd -- and started forward. He figured Azula would follow and, sure enough, as he walked forward the crowd made room for him. There was a lot to be said about confidence and purpose, Jason knew how to maneuver through a crowd full of people and even if he was in space, the future, and with aliens it was still a crowd to maneuver through.

It wasn't long before Jason reached the other side where the food service began. There were a few people milling in lines and waiting food. Jason looked over his shoulder to make sure Azula had followed in his path. "What look good to you?" He gestured towards the menus hanging around and noticed that some indicated that they could also do special requests.

Azula was not shy, that was for sure. Jason couldn't help but to continue to think of her confidence as similar to that of many of the Roman legionaries, especially those in the First and Second cohorts. She definitely had that vibe of someone who was powerful and well respected and used to having it that way. He definitely wasn't going to have to worry about her, in fact, he might have to keep an eye on her for a totally different reason. But, he didn't need to worry about her now was the point. Instead he turned his attention to his own ordering process and went ahead and requested just a good old fashioned cheeseburger with the works. He wasn't sure if he could get too specific or if he'd end up with some weird space cow meat or something. Whatever the case, something familiar would be nice.

And fries of course. Couldn't have a proper cheeseburger with fries. His food would be brought out to him shortly so he turned to Azula, "Guess we go find a seat then. Are they going to be able to get your sausage?"

"Sorry," Jason called after the Legionnaire as he backed off, smiling apologetically. He was definitely going to have to keep an eye on Azula. But since otherwise he would have had to sit elsewhere, Jason wasn't going to complain too much. He took the seat she'd gotten for them and folded his hands on the table to wait. Several questions still lingered in his mind, but he'd never really been great at small talk. He had a feeling Azula was the same.

He decided to focus on the topic of her home. That seemed like it could generate some interesting conversation. "So you mentioned being a fire bender. I'm guess there are other elements too?"

Jason blinked, "Killed? All of them?" That sounded fairly serious for an entire group to be wiped out like that. Jason wondered how she could be so dismissive of that, but then he reminded himself that it had happened a long time ago or, at least, before she was born. There were probably things from his own world he could talk about that would be just as horrific that he would sound just as blase about.

Surprisingly, their food was delivered at about that time. Jason guessed in the future one could prepare meals a lot faster. Jason would have thanked the service, but their service was being conducted by a faceless machine that reminded him a little bit of something from that Disney movie with the robots, only this was less adorable. Still, the food was hot and the robot didn't seem in need of any input from them as it set the food down and then left. Jason pulled his fries and cheeseburger closer, catching the smell of it before it was anywhere near him. It smelled just like something from In-n-Out, which somehow made things even better. "Smells and looks good," he turned back to Azula, "How'd yours come out?"

Somehow finding out that there was "all but one" remaining in her world didn't exactly make him feel better. Not that there was anything he could do about it, but he knew something of what it was like to be singled out for your heritage or something you couldn't control. Azula, however, didn't seem to be much of a fan of this air bender. Maybe he'd stick to the topic of food.

"Well it might smell good, but the true test will be tasting it, right?" Jason didn't need an invitation himself. He just picked up the burger and took a bite, doing his best not to get juices everywhere in the process. The burger, at least, was definitely as good as it looked.
