Maybe because she was concentrating on her thoughts and her thoughts about her thoughts was why she didn't realize that the door she'd pushed open led into a room that was already occupied. But she didn't stay oblivious for long. After all, not noticing people talking, even if they weren't talking to her, was a sure way for a super hero to get herself killed quite quickly.
