The actual Undeath Day was a solemn holiday involving internal meditation on the inevitability of death and in some religious orders, veneration of a mythological figure who had returned from death and could not die, despite the perpetual decomposition of his body, prompting worship of the figure as the sacrificial deity enduring the torment of Eternal Life that others might benefit from the Gift of Death. Practitioners often engaged in ritual self-burial, fasting, competitions of stillness, and other activities bringing them closer to the sensation of Death.
Mabel had decided instead that her party games were going to be more along the lines of bobbing for glorpfuls - which she'd filled a cauldron with, whatever they were - a pumpkin carving contest, costume contest, and of course, scary-oke.
