The way Amélie shook her head was almost violent. She knew how little of her mind was her own, even if more fragments were back than ever before. There were too many things she couldn't control inside her. Thankfully, most of those had to be triggered, but they were still there.
"You do not understand. Parts have been taken out, as though carved away by a knife, and replaced. There are things I have no control over." She couldn't meet Marjara's eyes. "It is called neural reconditioning."
