Of course Locus has heard worse impressions - the easiest way to make something less scary was to make it funny instead, and there had been a lot of very young Federal Army soldiers who had been very nervous about the terrifying mercenary in their midst, and imitating that very distinctive voice and filter was an easy form of humor. There's no way Locus hadn't heard at least one - everyone had had their own personal Locus impersonation by the time Wash had arrived. They'd even held a private contest for the best one and asked Wash to judge.

But that's the past that Locus is trying to move beyond, so Wash goes for a completely different tack. "Well yeah, no kidding. I'm really good at voices." Turns out that fun party trick is one of the few things he can do that he's truly proud of, and it shows in his voice.
