By now, Mako's been on the tour. He's wandered the diverse biomes of the habitat deck and seen the VR that could conjure anything you could think of, yet there's one place that stayed consistently the same and still hasn't gotten old.

Whenever Mako passes the signs pointing the way toward the observation deck, he has to go in and sit for a while. At least once every day now, he's found himself all the way at the end of the platform, where the view was the best and most vertigo-inducing, wishing there was some way he could snap a picture and send it to his friends back home.

It's on the fourth day that he decides to hell with it. After spending his usual couple of minutes just watching, he pulls out his Omnicom and starts to back up along the rail, trying to get the whole planet in frame -- or at least a decent shot of Australia and New Zealand hanging out in the Pacific. In doing this, what Mako naturally doesn't realize is that he's headed on a collision course.

3, 2,1. Impact.

As he goes to catch himself, the Omnicom clatters to the ground with the camera function still going. One hand grabs the rail, the other flings out behind him and plants on... something.

"Crap. My bad."

He says automatically, before registering that what's underneath his opposite hand is a flat, solid surface that feels almost like chrome. He glances down. He's not the yelping type. His shock reads only on his face when he sees the Omnic.

Or it would've were it not hidden behind a bandana and dark sunglasses.

"Oh---" Shit. "Uh, hi."

Mako slowly removes his hand from the robot's chassis, squeezing it into a preemptive fist by his hip. Not that a punch would do jack to something made of metal if it decided to be angry with him.

It's been a very eventful few days, to say the least. Sawtooth has it on good authority (or what he hopes is good authority, at least) that, while Legion World is very often chaotic, it isn't usually this particular type of chaos. There's usually a method to it, and time stream ripples are infrequent at best. Evidently it's just his timing that is terrible, and really, what else is new?

He's spent the time getting more accustomed to Legion World as a whole, learning the layout of the huge ship and the easiest ways to get from one area to another. While it's not the center of the ship by any means, the observation deck has become the central focus of his mental map, partially because it's easy to find and partially because it's one of the few places on the ship that feels truly peaceful. He's heading there now, just to touch base and be away from the madness in the halls, but he barely turns the corner before noticing that 1: someone is already there; 2: they're huge for a human; and 3: they're moving backwards fairly quickly - too quickly for Sawtooth to evade, as it turns out.

He really does have terrible timing.

He gets knocked flat on his back and winds up with a very large hand on his chassis. It gets removed in fairly short order and becomes a fist and this is no longer a good situation. Sawtooth stands up slowly, locking optics with the human's- are those his optics or is he covering them? What is Sawtooth even looking at here?

Either way, he's going to need to handle it.

"Hi," he starts. "Are you okay?"

"Good." The human isn't hurt, so there's no reason for anyone to be upset. Okay. But he does seem to be looking for something...

Sawtooth takes a chance, breaks optic contact, and looks behind him to see a dropped omnicomm, still open to the camera setting. Oh. He shifts slightly, sliding the omnicomm along the floor with his tail until it's within range of where the human is searching. Small movements and a gesture of goodwill. Everything's fine.

That might well be the case, actually, since the human is no longer making a fist.

"I'm alright." He's been knocked around by twenty-foot Decepticons; getting knocked over by a large human is nothing by comparison. After a moment, he carefully extends a servo - handshakes are a part of human greetings, right? "I'm Sawtooth."

EIGHT THOUSAND YEARS LATER I'm good at this I promise

"Don't worry about it." Sawtooth has been knocked around by bots much larger than Mako - an accidental run-in that (so far) has not ended in violence is better than he's been able to hope for in quite a while.

He follows Mako's gaze for a moment. "No, actually. I'm from a planet called Cybertron - it's galaxies away from here." And dimensions, but given the situation here, that goes without saying. "Are you?"
taumangaria: (Yeah uh-huh sure)

Really? Really. They're on a planet-sized space station filled with more species of inhabitants than Sawtooth has ever seen before, there's personal localized time travel going on, and the only thing that pings Mako as fake is the name of Sawtooth's home planet.

Really.

"So did Earth, the first time I heard about it." Sure, he's being arch, but it's not as though the conversation doesn't call for it.

Sawtooth just tilts his head slightly. "Probably." It's not like he named the planet, and he's willing to let this go for a translating error.

"I could show you part of it." The words are out almost before he thinks about them, but...well, why not? Legion World is safe, if a little chaotic right now, and it's a friendly gesture. If things go poorly, Sawtooth can always defend himself or escape. "If you wanted."

What, does Mako think he has a piece of Cybertron in his pocket? Does he look like a Decepticon? "Yes," he says instead, partially because the situation is still on the delicate side and partially because Mako probably has no idea what a Decepticon even is. "That's what I mean. It's modeled after a Cybertronian beach."

It's not a terribly long walk to the elevator, and not terribly long from there to Sawtooth's particular habitat. (He tends to prefer a longer route through the hab deck, just to give himself time to think, but now is not the time to wander.) "Here we are." It's a gravel beach, with pebbles in varying shades of blue, large boulders to sit or lean on, and gentle waves lapping against the shore; the difference is, everything is metal, ocean included.

Sawtooth does not have long legs, to put it lightly. After the first few steps, he gives up and activates his flight ring in order to keep up with Mako, pulling up short when Mako does.

He...doesn't actually have an answer to that question. "It shouldn't?" he tries after a moment of thought, and...no, that's not convincing. "I mean, I don't think a human has ever been on Cybertron, but I also don't think the Legion engineers would put anything that caustic to humans somewhere anyone could walk into it."
