Being a professional nerd is hard

Who| Sailor Mercury and You!
What| Professional Nerding Information lookup and a snack.
Where| A quiet, but public place
When| After all of the recent events.
Warnings/Notes| Professional Nerding as Ami looks up all of the information she can find about any topic.

Ami wasn't used to having this much information at her fingertips. Sure, the internet was a great thing, but it wasn't anything like what she could pull up on the Omnicom. There were so many different planets that she could find information on, so many different races and peoples with different beliefs and ways of living. It was enough to keep her busy for quite a while.

While she could stay in her own little part of the Legion, she preferred to get out and learn the layout of the place so she wouldn't get lost. She knew that she could probably pull up a map on the Omnicom as well, but she didn't want to become reliant on the technology.

So she wandered until she found a comfortably quiet place to sit down for a little while and read. She quickly skimmed over information that was similar to her own world's history and focused on what was different. She was able to find so much information and she couldn't help but keep reading as the day went on.

After a few hours she needed to get something to eat. She stretched out a bit and double checked the time.

"I forgot to get something to eat," she said once she realized how late it was. She had spent a lot of time looking up information. "There's got to be somewhere close that I can get something to eat at."

Forgetting to eat was something Kubo had never had enough food to do. In the short space of time he'd been in the Legion, he'd eaten more than it felt like he'd eaten his entire life, and his stick-thin build was starting to fill out a little, finally - so he nodded politely, unable to relate.

"There is a lot to learn here," he agreed, as he took a few steps towards the cafeteria, waving her on with him. "Is this place a long way in the future compared to your home? My name is Kubo, by the way. I'm a storyteller."

As he talked, it occurred to him that if she had missed a meal, she must have been very hungry indeed. He pulled one of the emergency snack bars he kept in his pack out and held it out to her.

"In case you forget to eat before a mission," he explained, with a warm smile.

"It's nice to meet you, Ami."

Vague recognition struck him as she mentioned being a Sailor Guardian. He had to think to remember where he knew that term from - then the mission during the Queen of Fables' release struck him.

His eye went wide as he listened with a new kind of interest. A story just about a girl who'd found new purpose and worth in her superhero job was interesting, and he'd have to ask her about that, but first -

"A Sailor Guardian? Maybe you can clear something up for me -" he squinted his one eye. "Where you're from . . . are Moon People heroes to mortals?"

"And what about Sailor Chibimoon, was she also Moon Royalty?"

Because that would explain how he ended up with the pink fuku, and also suggest that the universal laws of the Queen of Fables' world have a sense of humor.

"A little while ago, my friends and I fought a queen who had control over stories," he explained. "We kept jumping into the middle of other stories and having to battle other heroes' enemies. People must tell a lot of stories about you and your friends, because a few of us were in your story for a little bit. But I had trouble understanding it at first. The Moon King and his heavenly court were not kind or heroic in the Japan I came from."

What a sad tale hers struck him as, in a different way from how his was sad. Was the moon always doomed to be embroiled in tragedy?

"I'm sorry about your moon kingdom, anyway. Your queen sounds noble and kind."

This cleared up so much, but also raised so many questions. Time travel? More guardians than he'd encountered while pursuing the Queen of Fables? There were too many good stories here for him to possibly let Ami out of his sight now.

"That makes sense. My mother was a Moon Princess at one point, too. But our Moon King was not like your Queen Serenity."

They were almost to the cafeteria. Kubo looked at the open doors, then back at Ami with clear eagerness.

"Do you think you would like to tell me some of those stories, sometime? Like I said, I'm a storyteller. I'm about to go tell one now, if you'd like to see one of my performances before you agree."
