I've been hoping for a sign...

Who| Marjara Lavellan, and YOU?
What| The new kid in town is finding her way around.
Where| Around the ship in general.
When| First arrival.
Warnings/Notes| If you're squicked by mentions of amputation...well. Here's your warning.

As Inquisitor, she's traveled through the Veil to the Fade, the realm of abstracts and dreams. She's traveled through time. She's delved into the literal hearts of beings too massive and ancient to fathom. But this place is something else entirely. Sleek and metal, with no ground or dirt to be seen, outside of the lush forest that's been afforded her as her biome. And Elgar'nan, she'd never seen so many stars in her life.

Yes, she could certainly be found on the Observation Deck, putting it to its purpose with wide, dark eyes. One sleeve hangs empty, but her other arm extends to grip the rail, allowing her to lean forward as far as she dares. It's all a bit dizzying.

People might blink to see her poke her head into the training room, given her size and slender form, but she does so with great interest. With the loss of her arm, she'll have to relearn fighting with a staff, regaining proper balance with the weapon. She'll need to learn sooner, rather than later. Particularly if she's agreed to fight with the Legion.

Another fight to save all of creation. At least it doesn't fall entirely on her shoulders, this time.

She traverses the halls as well, taking in all the sights and sounds with perked ears and all the curiosity of a kitten. There are a great many humans here but none have mistaken her for a servant yet. So that's a pleasant change of pace. There have been whispers of a farm or garden, something of that nature. Perhaps a place she might be able to continue her study of herbs and potion-making? She may as well cultivate any advantage she can get.

"Well, feel free."

Don't let him stop you, even though he's most certainly stopped his current routine to give Marjara a good once-over. After a moment, he tries to mask it by heading over to the bag he's brought with him, slowly and methodically un-velcro-ing his gloves.

Still watching her, of course.

"Not used to this level of tech?"

76 is slowly becoming accustomed to the fact that not everyone had this kind of technology on Legion World. His own version of Earth is nothing to sneeze at, and it’s helped him make the adjustment much easier than most people, he thinks, but there are still a few things he’s needed to wrap his mind around.

“Not so hard.”

Easy for him to say, but he tries to at least look a little open about it, like she can ask him to explain things if she really needs him to.

“What’s giving you trouble?”

Oh. Well. If 76 recognizes the fact that he maybe missed that joke, he certainly doesn't show it--or maybe it's just the mask. Either way, he comes off as generally humorless, and shrugs after a moment as if to rid them both of that particular line of conversation.

"That's about the long and short of it."

Being good-natured about it, as she seems to be, certainly helps.

"Guess it's easier to keep an open mind about it."

Very stoic. Very serious. Highly opinionated.

76 isn't going to outright voice his vague thoughts of possible mutiny to a perfect stranger, but he doesn't make it a secret that he harbors no small amount of distaste for the Legion and their practices and recruitment. And, well, everything, really. It's all far too close to Overwatch for him to make those same mistakes again.

"More or less. They're short on personnel."

Which means they're desperate. No offense, just the truth.

"It's not the only problem."

He's speaking from a place of experience, not that he wants anyone to know that. He catches the shift in her tone and it lets him know that he can press a little further. That she might be harboring some of the same sentiments he does.

"They're not discriminatory with the people they take on. It's gonna bite them in the ass sooner rather than later."

76 senses her hostility and immediately backpedals--he doesn't quite understand what she's suddenly angry about, but it's clear he's said the wrong thing.

"Discerning, sorry. Maybe that's a better word. The Legion doesn't care what you were doing back home. They let terrorists take the oath."

"I don't see why keeping criminals out is a bad thing."

Then again, 76 is thinking about very specific criminals, ones he knows are beyond rehabilitation. He'd perhaps be more amenable to a case-by-case basis if he wasn't already soured by the presence of Reaper.

But clearly this is about another issue entirely, one he raises an eyebrow at.

"Doesn't matter to me if you're human or not."

Just as he doesn't care whether she's human or not, he doesn't much care whether or not she believes him. He'll let his actions speak louder than words in that department, if given the opportunity. Right now, it seems prudent to move onto more important aspects of the conversation, now that he's cleared up what he meant.

She's right, of course, but 76 doesn't come around so easily when Reaper is involved. It's far too personal--something that simply cuts too deep and colors everything else in the process.

"Obviously not the kind of criminal I'm talking about."

If he's at all offended, he doesn't show it--more likely he just doesn't muster up the energy to care about things like semantics. He's quiet for a moment, like he's debating how he wants to go about answer this without giving too much away. The awkward silence doesn't last long, apparently, as he decides that the best way to start this conversation is perhaps to put it in context.

"You got anyone from home here?"

"I do."

But he doesn't exactly sound happy about it, perhaps elucidating the reason for this tangent in the first place.

"Members of a terrorist cell." Which should be self-explanatory, and he hopes the fact that he's already said they're from his homeworld makes it clear that he knows what they're capable of.

"I don't exactly trust them to play nice. Personal experience."

[personal profile] mylawn 2017-04-07 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"They say they're aware of the situation."

But it's clear 76 doesn't put a great deal of stock in that assertion. He's been burned before, and he knows what happens when an organization's most dangerous people aren't put on a leash. Then there's the matter of Reaper being Reaper, of course. Reyes has always done what he wants, rules be damned.

"If you ask me, though, by the time they break rules, it'll be too late to act."

Considering the rules he expects them to break.

He could argue that his hands are tied--if he's the one who acts first without cause, he's the one who gets in trouble, even if he knows that Reaper is an active danger. It's backwards, but at the time time, why should the Legion's staff take his word for it? He can't exactly blame them, but it's hard to stand by and watch a ticking time bomb ready to happen.

"Sure. Keeping an eye on them is all we can really do."
