Pidge gets into moods where she only half-pays attention to things. Quarter-pays attention in some cases. And there was too much work to do to give much thought at all to much outside of the task at hand.
So Wash beat a guy in a skull mask (probably not the weird skinny kid she's seen a few times with one) and that was as far as she thought about it. Go Wash, good job. Come be my extra pair of hands now. But then...Wash seemed to vanish? At first she didn't think much about it, the ship was large, lots of places he could be. But he wasn't answering her calls. He was in none of his usual haunts.
And when Pidge finally does get a glimpse of Wash, heading around the corner to the habitat deck, he looks like he's headed there with purpose.
So she trails him. It's stupid and a little impulsive and not the best use of her power but does Wash seem like the kind of guy who would ever be OK with being followed? Yeah, that answer is probably "no."
And when she finds him by the lake, staring out into the water...well, what else can that mean but a hummer of a bad mood? All she can do is approach him slowly and lean against the other side of the tree...

...And hope he wants to talk. "Wash?"
