Ana just smiled softly and placed a hand on Rebecca's shoulder.
"It's okay, dear. I've been a sniper long enough to understand the reality of it. It's sometimes necessary to take one life so that others might live. The notches on my rifle aren't trophies, but a reminder to myself not to take that fact for granted."
Her tone becomes a little more somber as she continues.
"I just want you to remember one thing, since you've chosen the same path for yourself. Even your enemies are people. There is no point in being needlessly cruel. I've seen too many of my fellow snipers toy with their targets, saying they're merely drawing out more of the enemy, but such cruelty isn't worth it. They are also someone's sons or daughters, the same as you are to your parents."
She leaned back, and let out a loud sigh.
"Ahh, there I go again. Here I just wanted to treat you to a nice lunch and some conversation, but I've gone and gotten all gloomy on you. I apologize."

She gave Rebecca a joking smile.
"You see, this is what happens when you get old."
