When it came to explaining her rifle, it was a little awkward. Not that she minded talking about it, just that it was a longer story than one would expect.
"I used to work for an organization called Overwatch. It wasn't entirely unlike the Legion, though we were a bit more...grounded, let's say, in the military. One of our recruits, Dr. Angela Ziegler, was just about your age when she joined us. She was a medical genius, and eventually developed a technology that could be used to heal soldiers in the field."
"Our engineer, Torbjorn, figured out a way to weaponize it. Make a rifle that hurt and healed. Ziegler wasn't happy with that, she was something of a pacifist, but we went ahead and had it developed anyway. It was too useful a weapon to simply abandon the idea for."
She laughed awkwardly. She knew Angela meant well. But once she developed a technology that could be weaponized, it was only a matter of time before someone did. Better them than the enemy.
"So there you have it. My rifle can take lives, and it can save them."
Somehow, she didn't sound entirely proud saying that last sentence.
